HHS Photography Students Win State Honors

A fierce purple bobcat mascot lunges forward, superimposed on a large white letter 'H'.Hallsville High School’s Commercial Photography program has earned statewide recognition after multiple student portfolios placed among the top entries in Texas competition.The HHS Portrait Portfolio earned 3rd Place in State competition, while both the Still Life Portfolio and Thematic Portfolio received Honorable Mention honors, tying for 4th Place in State.

These accomplishments helped establish Hallsville High School as one of the premier photography programs in Texas, earning the following distinctions:
  • #2 Overall Photography Program in the District
  • #3 Portrait Photography Program in the State of Texas
  • #4 Still Life Photography Program in the State of Texas
  • #4 Thematic Photography Program in the State of Texas
Each category was judged based on the combined work of student teams consisting of at least five students submitting up to two images each in as many as four competition categories. Portfolios from public schools ranging from 6A through 1A, along with private schools from across Texas, were evaluated by an independent panel of professional photographers and photography educators from across the United States.

Hallsville ISD extends special thanks to the Hallsville High School Art Department for supporting and promoting the Commercial Photography program among art students. Appreciation is also extended to the HHS Science Department for allowing student photographers to accompany classes to the Fort Worth Zoo, where the images featured in the award-winning Thematic Portfolio were captured.

These achievements reflect the creativity, dedication, and talent of Hallsville High School’s student photographers and the educators who support them.
